Ethical Guidelines for Board Members (Adopted March, 2020) 

  1. I will faithfully abide by the Articles of Incorporation, by-laws and the Buddhist precepts.

  2. I will exercise reasonable care, good faith, and due diligence in Mountain Stream affairs.

  3. I will be accountable to the Mountain Stream community for prudent fiscal management.

  4. I will engage in wise and constructive speech. I will not criticize or condemn things of which I am not sure. I will refrain from uttering words that can cause division or discord. I will practice patient listening.

  5. I will maintain a professional level of courtesy, respect, and objectivity in all Mountain Stream activities.

  6. I will exercise the powers invested for the good of all participants in the Mountain Stream community rather than for personal benefit.

  7. I will cultivate and maintain inclusivity towards all practitioners, volunteers and staff without discrimination in respect to gender, sexual orientation, national origin, race, age, political affiliation or disability.

  8. I will respect the confidentiality of sensitive information known due to board service.

  9. I will respect the diversity of views and opinions of the Mountain Stream board, committees, staff and community members and skillfully register dissent as appropriate.
