Additional Ways to Give

Mountain Stream is a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit organization (Tax ID #68-0351052) therefore all financial contributions are how we keep the doors open and the Dharma available to all.

Our purpose is to be a resource and a support for Insight Meditation (Vipassana) practice. Through this endeavor we learn from and respond to one of the Buddha’s core teachings, The Three Jewels or The Three Refuges: Buddha (awakening), Dharma (truth), and Sangha (spiritual community).

Mountain Stream Meditation

Mountain Stream Meditation serves as a collective organization and resource for the Buddhist community in the Sierra Foothills. Our offerings include on-site, as well as virtual programs and when the opportunity arises we will continue to present residential retreats taught by Guiding Teacher John Travis. Mountain Stream supports an extended sangha which hosts virtual sitting groups, classes, and daylong retreats in northern California and northern Nevada. We also collaborate with other Buddhist groups in the Sierra Foothills.

The Nevada City Insight Center

The Nevada City Insight Center at 710 Zion St., Nevada City, CA, is home for our Founder and Guiding Teacher, John Travis. The Center is where local programs are held. Some of these programs are: evening sits & Dharma talks, daylong retreats, small group gatherings, Open Temple Friday, Temple Care and other events.

Guidestar Silver Transparency Rating
