Adam Stonebraker - New Resident Guiding Teacher

Dear Sangha,

We are so pleased to announce that after a nation-wide search, we have selected our new Guiding Teacher, Adam Stonebraker. During the past few months, many of you have experienced Adam’s teachings on Zoom or in person at the NCIC. Check out Adam’s bio below to learn more about his background and experience.

This “passing of the torch” from Mountain Stream’s founder and long-serving Guiding Teacher, John Travis, represents a significant milestone in our organization’s history. We are forever grateful to John for his vision and enduring commitment to the Buddha’s teachings. John will continue to teach at the center and residential retreats but will be stepping back to spend more time with his family and traveling in Asia.

We anticipate that Adam will begin engaging on an ongoing basis with us in October, and relocate with his partner, Lakshmi Prasad, sometime in the future. Please join the Board of Directors in welcoming Adam and Lakshmi into our community, and soon to Nevada County.

With deep gratitude,

Mountain Stream Board of Directors, 2023

Greetings from Adam Stonebraker
“I’m overwhelmed with gratitude for the incredible opportunity to be guiding teacher for such a beautiful, wonderful community! John Travis’ shoes are impossible to fill, so I won’t even try to do that, but I will attempt to carry on his legacy by serving this community with a heart first approach while centering the Dhamma in everything I do. I am so excited to grow with this community and expand our reach for years to come.” – Adam Christian Stonebraker
