Position Overview

The Bookkeeper will manage the center’s day-to-day financial operations and help maintain clear, accurate, and timely financial records. This position is ideal for someone with experience in nonprofit bookkeeping who can be flexible as we grow our center. 

You will work closely with the Executive Director and Treasurer as part of the Finance Committee, contributing to discussions about how we manage and sustain the financial health of our organization.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records using QuickBooks

  • Record deposits, reconcile accounts, and track income and expenses

  • Manage and file bills, receipts, and reimbursements

  • Pick up mail from the post office box before each shift

  • Deposit donations and other funds at the bank weekly

  • File tax form 1099/1096 & pay sales tax

  • Collaborate with the Executive Director and Treasurer on budgeting and financial decision-making

  • Prepare monthly reports for the Finance Committee and Board meetings

  • Run Payroll

  • Assist with year-end reporting and coordination with the accountant for tax filings 

  • Maintain donor and contribution records (experience with DonorSnap a plus)

  • Attend monthly staff meetings (mandatory)

  • Contribute to a positive, mindful, and cooperative work environment

Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum 2–3 years of nonprofit bookkeeping/accounting experience

  • Software: Proficiency with QuickBooks (required); experience with DonorSnap (preferred)

  • Skills: Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities; attention to detail; organized and reliable

  • Tech-savvy: Comfortable using digital tools; Google Docs, Excel, Word

  • Interpersonal: Positive attitude, excellent communication, and collaborative spirit

  • Mindful presence: Ability to “go with the flow” and maintain equanimity in a dynamic environment

Schedule & Compensation

  • 8-10 hours per week, on-site - some remote work possible, 2–3 non-consecutive days

  • Attendance at monthly staff meetings required

  • $30/Hour
